CHCA Board

I am Galen Wiese (she/her), President of CHCA. I have lived in this neighborhood since 1990, in the same house on Elmhurst Drive. My husband David (one of our treasurers) and I always seem to have a cat or two living with us; most recently, our new boy, Smedley. Originally I am from Flint, MI and it was a great place to grow up. After a three-year stint as a hippie farmer/musician, I moved to Colorado in 1979 and, as many of us did, fell in love with the land, the people, and the community. I recently retired from a 47-year career in nursing and nursing education. I think if I had it to do all over again, I would have pursued choreography! Gardening takes a lot of our effort in spring and summer and we both volunteer for the Sharing with Sheridan Food Pantry; I am grateful to be able to give back to this community in every way I can. Say hi when you see me. I want to get to know as many CHCA neighbors as I can.

I am Jennifer Gerdes, Vice President of Columbine Hills Civic Association (CHCA), leader, entrepreneur, and real estate expert with a deep passion for building strong communities. I am a long-time resident of Littleton. I have lived in the area for most of my life and am committed to making it a thriving place for families and businesses alike. As Vice President of Columbine Hills Civic Association, I actively work to foster connection, enhance local initiatives, and create a welcoming environment for residents.

Beyond my professional achievements, I am a devoted wife, mother of four children and two pups, and proud GIGI (grandma). I love the outdoors and spending time with family and love a good day on the lake either in the water or fishing. My extensive experience in real estate, business development, and team leadership has allowed me to successfully guide high-performing teams, focusing on training, operations, and strategic growth. As a former State President of the Women’s Council of Realtors, I have built strong networks, streamlined processes, and driven meaningful change.

Whether I'm advocating for our neighborhood, mentoring, or helping businesses scale, my hands-on approach and commitment to people-first leadership make me a driving force in every endeavor. I look forward to meeting you all at our events!

David for bio.jpg

Hi. I am David Wiese, and I have served as co-treasurer of CHCA for four years. I moved to Columbine Hills in 1984 and bought the house we still call home. I have been working on it ever since! Colorado remains the perfect location for me; it was close to work and close to the mountains.

Like many others in Columbine Hills, I worked at Martin Marietta (now Lockheed Martin), putting in lots of hours and working a variety of interesting projects over the years. That background brought me to Air Methods, an emergency helicopter company serving Flight for Life, Airlife, and other rescue flight programs across the U.S. I enjoyed working around all kinds of aircraft. And from when I started in 1997, the company grew from supporting 30 aircraft to over 500.

Now I am retired and I seem to be as busy as ever. My wife Galen and I are very active in the Sharing with Sheridan Food Pantry. And I remain very busy with home projects, camping, golfing, gardening, travelling, and skiing. I am always available to help a neighbor who needs me.

I am grateful to be an active member of CHCA. It has been a great way to meet new friends and support our community.

Kelsey Scott is a proud Colorado native and she planted new roots in the charming town of Littleton in 2020, where she’s found joy in the close-knit community, majestic mountain views, and peaceful, tree-lined streets of Columbine Hills. In 2023, Kelsey embraced her most cherished role yet—becoming a loving mom to her son Elias. She’s also happily married to her adventurous and supportive husband, Jarod, and together they’re about to celebrate three beautiful years of marriage. Outside of work, Kelsey thrives in the simple pleasures of life: nurturing her vibrant backyard garden, savoring slow mornings with coffee on the pergola swing, preserving homegrown goodness through canning, and creating warm, lasting memories with friends and family around the table. Kelsey is deeply passionate about helping shape the future of the Columbine Hills community and is excited to foster its potential for generations to come.

Gii Grimes serves on the Columbine Hills Civic Association (CHCA) board and recently redesigned and updated the CHCA website. A retired American diplomat, Gii spent over 20 years posted at U.S. Embassies around the world. She and her family have lived in Maryland, New York City, Virginia, Thailand, Cambodia, Korea, Sri Lanka, and Japan—and traveled to more than 20 countries! Yet no matter where life took them, Colorado always called them home.

In 2019, Gii and her husband, Glenn, returned to Columbine Hills, moving into Glenn’s childhood home on W. Canyon Ave. Since then, they’ve renovated the house and created vegetable and flower gardens. Their children, Ryan and Emily, both graduated from CU Denver and now work in Denver and Boulder. They also have two energetic Blue Heeler/Border Collie mixes—Pepper and Taz.

With nearly 25 years of yoga practice, Gii now teaches yoga and stretch classes at Serasana Littleton, Foothills Recreation Center, and from her home studio. Her classes focus on gentle movement, strength, flexibility, and mindful breathing—always for community connection and well-being.

I don’t know who cares in this fine group,

But here is my story in one swell swoop.

We moved from Kentucky in sixty-nine,

And found Columbine Hills suited just fine.

Raised two boys. Ran a Blood Bank twenty years.

Found a niche in Theatre with my peers.

With love of snow skiing, tennis, sailing,

While self-employed, my interests weren’t flailing.

Gardens and classes are now my mainstays,

On-line games, crosswords, puzzles fill my days.

An avid reader, I’m inspired to write,

Poetry has settled in my first sight.

Since these activities keep me from harm,

I find home in the “Hills” still has its charm.
